Amy, Although the following doesn't directly help with Ellen it may be of interest as it relates to the children. Unfortunately I don't have any time at the moment as I'm off on hols but someone may pick up the mantle or I'll look deeper when I get back. I think the 2 children in the 1891 census are: Ernest Walter Young born 1988 (based on army record) Ernest Reginald Young born 1890 (from FreeBMD & IOWFHS) I note there are a number of other children in the 1901 which should be on the IOWFHS site. There are a lot of Army records for Ernest Walter but the records on Ancestry look a bit mixed up with either another Ernest Walter or if he joined up again in 1921, he initially joined up in 1909. There is one record referring to next of kin as Ellen and another of Maurice (includes reference to a brother Reginald (younger). The records I looked at were an Ancestry WW1 Service records and started at image 38584 with an army no. of 57598 and there was probably 20 pages in all (worth checking the prior entry as well). There were references to Ventnor and St Catherine's Place (their address in the 1891 & 1901 census). I think that a detailed analysis of the information in the records may fill out the information, but I don't have the time at the moment. Hope that helps Bob Hills
