I have a peripheral interest in this Isle of Wight family through a marriage into my BARTON line, and am trying to sort it out. John Atkins Tayler, born c 1785, the son of Richard Read Tayler and Hannah, nee Atkins, married Hannah Barton at Newport, 10 August 1809. He died 1856, she died late 1837. They had the following children: John Atkins Tayler, born Northwood, 3 March 1810 William Barton Tayler, 1811-1815 Jane Atkins Tayer, born 1814 Eliza Barton Tayler, 1818-1892, married George Hall and had a number of children. Harriet Tayler, born 1820, married George Groves at Ventnor, 1851. William James Tayler, born 1829.(In an online tree, his birth is given as 4 March, christening 3 April in West Cowes, along with sister Harriet.) William James Tayler married 1 July 1851 in Ryde, Emma Newman, and they had the following children: William James Tayler, christened Newport, 26 January 1852 Frederick John Tayler, probably a twin, christened same date. Married, and had a number of children Richard Read Tayler, born Isle of Wight 1853, probably died early, although the death has not been found Richard Read Tayler, born Islington 1855, married, had a daughter and died 1884 Emma Louisa Tayler, born Islington, c1857 Hannah Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1859 Frank Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1867 Ada L Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1874 Alice J Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1877 There are some conflicting census entries, not to mention numerous misspellings as TAYLOR. Would be grateful if anyone knows more of the family and can help sort them out, and happy to share what I know. I have a lot of earlier Barton info, and also some further Tayler info.
