Dear Noelene, As they do not appear on the burial index for St Blasius Church, Shanklin - I would think that they may be buried at Shanklin Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Lake, IOW. The IOW council will do a genealogy search - first two names free, thereafter they charge (quelle surprise!!) -see http://www.iwight.com/living_here/help/BereavementServicesCemeteryFeesAndCharges.pdf However, if your rellies were non conformist, then they may be buried at one of the many chapels on the IOW. See http://isle-of-wight-fhs.co.uk for a full list of churches / burial grounds on the IOW. As regards finding the house named 'Anneslee', I suggest you ask if SKS has access to a trade directory for the Isle of Wight covering the period to see if the house is listed with a number, which may narrow it down for you - but remember many road numbers have changed over the years as properties have been demolished or new ones built, especially in coastal towns like Shanklin. Dear April, I didn't have any problems here in Dorset, UK. I managed to get on during all the England games. The first time - there was 'overloading the server' problems and I only managed to download 1 document, but after that it was great and I've managed to download over 60 documents - that's nearly all my known rellies who were alive in 1911. I wasn't cut off before the time was finished, but it was to the exact second. I've managed to track down the whereabouts of some of the various siblings and their lines and have also confirmed unknown children born between 1901 & 1911 and now know how many had died, so I can look for them also. I am very pleased with the outcome and if FMP offer it again, I will certainly be logging on! Hi April, Just to say I had a good experience (here in Melbourne at around 6 pm local time) with free access to FMP, once I had worked out the appropriate software. Initially I could only view the transcripts but in my last session I managed to download 20 images which I was pretty pleased with. Pity England didn't win their last match - I could have done with another session!! Regards ......... Ros. I didn't have any issues at all here in Canada. The first time I went on at about 5 am local time, and for the other game at about 5pm local. Had great success. I have a peripheral interest in this Isle of Wight family through a marriage into my BARTON line, and am trying to sort it out. John Atkins Tayler, born c 1785, the son of Richard Read Tayler and Hannah, nee Atkins, married Hannah Barton at Newport, 10 August 1809. He died 1856, she died late 1837. They had the following children: John Atkins Tayler, born Northwood, 3 March 1810 William Barton Tayler, 1811-1815 Jane Atkins Tayer, born 1814 Eliza Barton Tayler, 1818-1892, married George Hall and had a number of children. Harriet Tayler, born 1820, married George Groves at Ventnor, 1851. William James Tayler, born 1829.(In an online tree, his birth is given as 4 March, christening 3 April in West Cowes, along with sister Harriet.) William James Tayler married 1 July 1851 in Ryde, Emma Newman, and they had the following children: William James Tayler, christened Newport, 26 January 1852 Frederick John Tayler, probably a twin, christened same date. Married, and had a number of children Richard Read Tayler, born Isle of Wight 1853, probably died early, although the death has not been found Richard Read Tayler, born Islington 1855, married, had a daughter and died 1884 Emma Louisa Tayler, born Islington, c1857 Hannah Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1859 Frank Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1867 Ada L Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1874 Alice J Tayler, born Old Bond St, Surrey, c1877 There are some conflicting census entries, not to mention numerous misspellings as TAYLOR. Would be grateful if anyone knows more of the family and can help sort them out, and happy to share what I know. I have a lot of earlier Barton info, and also some further Tayler info. Regards James Butler
I am really hoping to find someone with a link to Clara nee Morris and Danial Frank Scovell who were both born Godshill and married 1889. They had a daughter Dorothy (Dora) Constance May just before they were married. Several children born after the marriage. Dorothy emigrated to New York 1910. She met up with her uncle (Clara's brother) Henry Morris and his wife Rose in Westchester. N.Y. Dorothy/Dora married David Clifford ( an Irish immigrant) 1916 and they had a daughter Dora as given in the 1930 census then age 13 years. David died Stamford, Fairfield, in 1934 and the mother Dora died Connecticut Valley hospital 1936 and is buried in their cemetery. My problem is that I cannot trace the whereabouts of the daughter Dora who was about 19 years when her mother died. Had she already died? Got married later. Go to live with Henry and Rose who were childless themselves? The brick wall has been insurmountable, so I am hoping that someone recognises this family link and hopefully may be able to help me find Dora. Thank you and kind regards. April nee Morris. UK
