Sue When was your G Grandfather a Wharfinger (BRS)? Although BRS certainly does (or did) stand for British Road Services this is I believe post 1948 only. If this occupation is pre-1948 then there may be another meaning. Not many RALPHS on the Island so research should be quite 'straight forward' :-) I have a James RALPH b 1809 East Cowes ( Customs Officer ) married a Harriet born 1811 West Cowes . Two children that I have documented ( possibly more I haven't looked ) Harriet RALPH b 1842 West Cowes Sarah Deacon RALPH b 1846 West Cowes . Sarah married Edwin CLARKE 1871 in Newport. Two kids from this marriage Ralph Edwin Clarke b 1872 and the wonderful EVANGELINA ELFRIDA CLARKE 1877 ( trying saying that one after a few drinks ). Can anyone be so kind as to search for the SOUTHCOTT family? the husband, Thomas SOUTHCOTT was born c. 1797. His wife, Elizabeth Betsy SOUTHCOTT (Formerly JONES), was also born c. 1797. They had two children that I know of -- Elizabeth SOUTHCOTT b. 1833 and Henry SOUTHCOTT b. 1920. Seems to me that there should be more children! Any help would be greately appreciated it!
