    3. The unusual forename of Paris caught my attention so, although I am not actively researching the name Sandwell, I thought I would pass along this little bit about Paris Sandwell. In my search for Bayly in St. Peter Thanet I found in Willis' Marriage Licenses an entry dated 1761 for Paris Sandwell of St Peter Thanet mariner wid.and Sarah Bayly of same spinster. Samuel Coward of same mariner bond 27 Dec 1760. Marriage took place 28 Dec 1760 St Peter Thanet. License entry is dated 1761 but 1760 is in body of license and parish entry. I have this Paris as bapt 23 Jun 1722 son of Paris Sandwell and Ann. I have not searched for the death of his first wife, the date of his first marriage, nor their children. Paris and Sarah had a son they gave the name of Paris who was bapt. 5 Nov 1761 St Peter Thanet. I wonder where the forename of Paris originated in the Sandwell family. Sarah, baptised St Peter Thanet 3 Dec 1732, was the daughter of Nathaniel Baily and Sarah Lister. She was baptised under Baily but the marriage license and the marriage had her surname spelled as Bayly. Elizabeth Brooker of Etobicoke, Ont. Canada
