    3. Hi List, My Gloucester/Bristol Phillpotts (spelled a variety of ways) hailed from Margate. Would be grateful for any information on the name in that area. Susannah and Pat - could you have a look in St. Lawrence's for the name, when you're there please? It sounds as though you have been inundated though, so if this is the final straw, don't worry! Thanks Tricia

    3. What time period are the Philpotts? I am looking for Edward Philpott, born about 1597, who immigrated to America about 1649. The ship captain was Capt. William Mitchell. Thanks, Shirley

    3. We did find a couple of Phillpot/Philpott graves - Susannah has the inscriptions which she'll post over the next few days. It was a good day, but a lot of the graves are overgrown with ivy, trees & wildlife - mostly spiders , shudder !!! Being the big, brave cowards we are, Susannah & I ran like mad when one tried to bite us !! Have you SEEN the jaws on a spider ??? Frightening !! We've still got a lot more churchyard to cover & hopefully, will be going again next week sometime. Pat.xxx :o)) A Maid of Kent I have an Elizabeth Phillpot (bapt. 19 Dec 1736 at St.Lawrence but living in St. John's at the time of the marriage) who married Crofts Fowler 28 Dec 1763 at St. John's, Margate.
