    3. The original names for Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate were, The Parish of St Peter in Thanet, The Parish of St John in Thanet, The Parish of St Laurence in Thanet, the names arising from the Trinity of Churches established by monks from St Augustine's Abbey. Minster St Mary was the Mother Church of Thanet and St John, St Peter and St Laurence its daughter Chucrhes. I am sure Manston is mentioned in the Doomsday Book, will look into it. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bingmbing@aol.com To: Isle-of-Thanet-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, August 06, 2006 10:55 PM Subject: [IoT] Domesday Book I went on to this new site of the National Archives released over the week-end I think. Out of some 450 items for Kent, nothing for Thanet except one item headed Minster. Is this what Thanet came under? Only names are church authorities, and Lord Godwine etc. No land or people of help for me, or did I miss something? Madie
