I have ancestors from Preston near Wickham in Kent, so it exists. Perhaps look up Preston? L. I have been tracking a bit further back through my Kennetts over the weekend (bad cold, so I sat in front of the fire with the laptop) I got as far as Thomas born 1776. He seems to have married Mary Fox in Monkton in 1801 and he lives in Monkton on the 1841 and 51 censuses, but they do not contain a place of birth. On the 1861 census he is still in Monkton, but his place of birth I think looks like Wickham. I went over and over it. It is definitely in Kent. I looked at the road map and see that there is East and West Wickham but also in Thanet, Wickhambreaux. Is there any other place in Thanet, maybe somewhere small which is not on the road map which it may mean? Or could it be Wickhambreaux. I am wondering why it just says Wickham and does not distinguish between East and West. Any help or opinions would be much appreciated.
