    3. Hi all I have been drawn in by Sean and his description of his father playing at the Golden Garter. I went to school with your sister, Lorna and our fathers were friends in those days both being 'Minster men'. (my dad is also known as Colin to confuse matters) .. Me and my sisters were regularly given a night out at the Golden Garter to see Al and his band (dad still has some LP's). I remember Ronnie Winters also ! Another memory I have of the Lido in later years was playing in the Thanet Junior table tennis league that was held there every Friday night. The fathers of the team members took it in turns to give us the lift from Minster to Margate and would spend the evening waiting in the Jamaica Inn ! (drink drive wasn't so taboo in those days) I will forward this thread to my dad who will be interested in Seans memories. Both my mum and dad worked in I think the western bar, might have been star and garter, it was a pretend cowboy theme. Also my grandfather died when he fell from scaffolding while working in the games room in Dec 1962. I would like any information, maybe there as been a book on the history of the Lido written, or if anyone knows about the Lido during the 1960's I would appreciate it.
