If someone was in the Workhouse in say 1851 what are their chances of coming from an area in London to the Workhouse? Or did the workhouse exist solely for the use of people from the Thanet area? My ancestor Thomas Hills was a Baker and in 1841 is in Stepney then he suddenly appears in the Minster Workhouse in the 51 census with all of his family. OR is there two Thomas Hills both bakers?
