RECITALS The organist of Holy Trinity Parish Church (Miss Woodman) has arranged a Series of organ recitals for Thursday afternoons early in the New Year, when the collections will go towards the debt on the organ. The recitals will be given by Mr Curzon M POOLE, Mr H B Osmond, DR F J Bellerby, and Miss Woodman. FOR THE WOUNDED Miss DANIELS and Miss EVELING, of "Chamouix", Queen's Road, Broadstairs, would be glad to receive gifts of old Linen for the wounded soldiers of the local V.A.D Hospitals, for which there is much need. Any gifts, however small, will be willingly collected if desired. LIGHTING OFFENCE At the Cinque Ports Police Court, held at Margate on Monday, before Mr Goodson and other Magistrates, Miss Elsie DURANT of St Rowan's, Stone Road, Broadstairs, was charged with showing an unobscured light, which was visible at sea at 9.45pm on the 5th inst. Defendant stated that she went hurriedly into her room to dress and forgot to draw the curtain. A Fine of 7s. 6d with 2s. 6d for special constable's fee, was imposed. THE LATE MR J STUPPLES The Funeral of the late Mr J STUPPLES, took place on Thursday afternoon at St Peter's Church, amidst many tokens of respect, the service being conducted by the Rector of Holy Trinity Broadstairs. The Chief mourners were Mrs CG Sellens, (Niece) of Lydd, Mr and Miss Anderson of Margate and Mrs Hodges. FATAL BURNS Widows Tragic Death Mrs Sarah JACOB, a widow aged 88 residing at "Landsdowne" Queens' Road, Broadstairs, met her death under tragic circumstances during the weekend. Entering the dining room to prepare dinner, Daisy CARD, a Maidservant, found the old lady lying in the fire place. Assistance was promptly to hand and Mrs Jacobs (sic) suffering from severe burns on both arms, breast and left side of the face. The Unfortunate lady lingered in agony until close upon 2 o'clock on Monday morning, when she expired. An Inquest is fixed to be held to day (Wednesday).
