Hi Listers Although Sir Austen Layard was born in Paris (5 March 1817), his mother was Marianne Austen of Ramsgate. Her father was Nathaniel Austen, banker of Ramsgate. Nathaniel's brother was Benjamin, a solicitor of London and friend of Benjamin Disraeli. I have a number of Nathaniel Austens of Ramsgate, and Benjamins as well, and am hoping someone on the list can help me establish connections.
