Having tried unsuccessfully for the last two days to download a large family history file, which someone from the List has been trying, very kindly, to send me, I thought I might just let other listers know why I could not receive it. It would be interesting to know if it solves anyone elses internet problems!! I sometimes can use internet connection without any problem, (sadly only dialup - I'm too isolated for broadband to work, apparently). This goes on for several months, no problem. Then overnight everything goes wrong, and I spend the next few months badgering BT to sort it out. They scratch their heads, replace lines, boost the out put etc., etc., nothing happens, I still lose connection after a few minutes, that's if I can get on at all!!! Then everything works OK again. Curious All through the last few months, it has been fine, then two weeks ago - problems came back again. I noticed too at the same time, our neighbouring farmer let his bullocks out, after keeping them in through the winter. Little grey cells sugested there may be a connection. On asking said farmer, it appears he keeps his bullocks under control with miles of mains powered electric fencing!!! I asked him to swich it off for one hour at a given time to prove/disprove my theory, and hey presto!! Perfect connection. Sadly he had to turn it back on again to keep the bullocks from escaping, but he has promised to speak with BT to see if there is anything he can do. I write this little piece in the hope that it may help anyone elso who has unexplained internet connection problems. Regards to all, Linda.
