Hi Thanet Listers, Is there SKS with access to an 1861 census index other than Ancestry or 1837 online, who could help me find two ladies by the name of Petronella RICHARDSON ( mother and daughter ) in the 1861 census. In 1841 and 1851 they are living in Ramsgate ( Camden Place in 1841, Camden Square in 1851) with Thomas born about 1836. Petronella senior is born Calais France ( I believe from an IGI patron submission that she was Petronella Leroux, and married George Richardson in Margate St John in May 1815. George died I think about Dec 1847. Petronella junior was born about 1832 in Kent ( again a patron submission gives her baptism as 23 September 1832). In 1861 Thomas is married and in Bermondsey with wife Ann and son Thomas. But in spite of searching indexes and even the relevant census district that has Camden Square in, I can find no sign of either Petronella. I believe Petronella senior died in March quarter 1868 in Thanet. The index gives her age as 74. But no sign of the younger one on death or marriage indexes or censuses, or even the Castle Garden site of those immigrating to the USA. Someone is obviously interested in her, so I have high hopes that she survived. Does anyone have any info? Anne
There's a mother, Widow, born France living in Middlesborough. She's living with her son and his family. The son is not on the census, but his wife is Elizabeth born Deal! Back tracking to 1851, Elizabeth Richardson is married to George Richardson, mariner, born Ramsgate. So this looks like a possibility for Petronella senior in 1861. I'll continue searching for Petronella junior. Best wishes Elizabeth Anne Peat wrote: > Hi Thanet Listers, > > Is there SKS with access to an 1861 census index other than Ancestry > or 1837 online, who could help me find two ladies by the name of > Petronella RICHARDSON ( mother and daughter ) in the 1861 census. > > In 1841 and 1851 they are living in Ramsgate ( Camden Place in 1841, > Camden Square in 1851) with Thomas born about 1836.
