I have a James Wales (son of John, a labourer) and who was a widower and a mariner, who married Mary Miller (also a widow, nee Hope) on 4th February 1839. Do any researchers know who he was married to before MARY? He appears in the 1841 and 1851 census, but I have no other information. Another James!!! This one married Hannah Foster on 5th Dec 1797 at St Peters. Are there any further bits of information regarding his marital status, father, place of birth etc???? I have bought an old microfilm reader, so am going to treat myself to some relevant microfilms - I feel terribly guilty keep asking someone else to do the looking up!! William W(h)ales was the son from John Whale's 3rd marriage to Hannah Overy. The James who married Mary Miller might have been a son of John Whales, brother to James Whales who married Hannah Foster.
