P.C Hogben said at 6.30pm the previous evening he was on duty in Mill Lane, where he saw the prisoner surrounded by a crowd of children, to whom she was using bad language. He ordered her away and she went into High Street then Church Square, where he was on account of her disorderly conduct, compelled to take her into custody. P.S Bellingham said all was done that was possible to get the woman away for the sake of decency, and she was advised to leave the town, but she absolutely refused. The prisoner said she was excited by the children around her, Chief Constable Appleyard stated that the woman used bad language in the Police Station, where there were no children. She was a stranger to Police at Margate.
