There is a local paper but its not as wide in circulation as it used to be,  plus, it may not run as you have no surname. Have you looked for passenger lists for John Holloway?. Holloway was a name that one of the men in the community said he could be. What other info do you have on this Holloway? John Charles died on March 26/ 1899 in his 80th year. I tried DNA testing on the Homans name, using my nephew who was son of my brother Ross Evans Spencer Homans Have not matched any Homans markers, not even one, however I matched 23 out of 25 for surname Ross. My brother that I just mentioned was given Ross as his first name. I will now try Holloway and see if I get any markers. He married Janet Robson, they had 6 sons and 3 dau who died couple months after their birth, names of the girls were Elizabeth, Catherine and Clarissa & were buried on the property. The six boys were named John Bruce, James, William Charles, Ebenezer, Stephen Henry (my Granfather), Edwin Isaac. He arrived with money in his pocket, purchased the land, built Lobster and Clam factory plus General Store, the store survived until 1972. I have a couple of pictures which could be Homans/Holloway. I understand that others said he changed his name. I would appreciate any info, have been on this search for over 40 years. Are there any "Homans" in the Thanet phone book? I'd expect to find a fair few "Holloway". Just checked the Medway one and find 1 entry for "Homan". Quite a few for "Holman" and 1 for "Holmans". Not sure why a community would tell a newcomer what name he can use. Maybe a religious community?
