Twins Ann Belsey & Elizabeth Hazeldine Belsey - 27 Nov 1803 Sarah Fuller Belsey - 28th Jun 1807 Thomas Fuller Belsey - 10 May 1812 Edwin Tucker Belsey - 1818 2. Who were the parents of Henry Belsey b:1771 Eastry d: 1850 Eastry - I know Eastry is not on the Isle but someone may know. The dates/place may be off. If you go into www.abebooks.co.uk and search under the author and title, then sort the results by "lowest first", you will find there are copies of the original edition under 8 pounds in America and the cheapest of the reprint is under 14 pounds. There are about 6 pages with Thanet info on and I'd be happy to scan them. My copy came from the US and the name of the original owner is inside - a German name. I found the book as it was mentioned in The Third Kentish Patchwork by Robert Goodsall, when he was describing WW2 in Harrietsham, where he lived. I've just read a book called The Last Ditch by David Lampe, about the Resistance organisation which was set up in the UK in WW2 in case the Germans landed. There was some information about Thanet. The Resistance group leader for Thanet was Norman Steed, a farmer from Manston Grove. The group used existing tunnels in the chalk from smuggling days as hideouts. Another hideout was under a brickyard about a mile south-west of Margate. Most of the hideouts were destroyed at the end of the war. The other name mentioned in Thanet is a radio operator called Lamont. > > > > The book was originally published in 1968 and reprinted by Greenhill Press in 2007 and is a great read. > > > > Cheers, > > > > Margaret Lewington > > > > in Perth, Western Australia > > _________________________________________________________________ > POP access for Hotmail is here!
