    3. Can anyone help with info about Nicholas GREENWOOD & his wife Mary (maiden name unknown) ? Their daughter Amity seems to have married William SAMPSON of St Peters in Thanet about 1695 maybe. http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Libr/MIs/MIsSandwichStPeter/01.htm gives the following Monumental Inscription from St Peters Sanwich but specifically mentioning St Peters Thanet: "54. On a stone very much defaced is: Here ……………../Nicholas GREENWOOD …………./October 8th 1721 a Mary his Wife ob. M…../1707 aet 63 and of their Children, Mary, ob. Feb 9th 1691/2 Aet 21. Ann ob ….3/1689. Richard aet 18 months, Amity Wife to Mr. William SAMPSON of St Peter’s Thanet …../dyed in Childbed Sepr. 13, 1696 Aet 22, 11 months. Greenwood Sampson her Son Aet 5. ob. Aug 25 1701." I can't see a marriage licence listed in Cowper for William SAMPSON's marriage to Amity. Can anyone help with where or when the marriage happened? William SAMPSON seems likely to be christened 10 DEC 1671 at Saint John In Thanet, ie the son of William SAMPSON & Martha (nee WHITE) who married at St Andrews Canterbury by license 20 April 1670. Does anyone know what happened to William SAMPSON (born 1671) after Amity's death in 1696? Nicholas GREENWOOD seems to have been a physician (licensed by Lambeth Palace in 1684) in Sandwich and authored a book, Astronomia Anglicana, published in 1689 & sold at Rest FENNER's bookshop in Canterbury. His will was proved 1722 at Archdeaconry. any help much appreciated thanks Barbara Callcott __________________________________________________________________________________ Find local businesses and services in your area with Yahoo!7 Local.
