Dear Elaine, I have just come across a picture of a Walter Cullen in the Isle of Thanet Gazette for 23rd July 1982. I instantly remembered a IOT lister had Walter Cullen's in their tree. This one is Births Dec 1919 Cullen Walter S C Lipscomb Thanet 2a 2093 Died May 2001. Son of Walter Harrison Cullen 1899-1971. Walter was a painter of landscape and agricultural scenes and the article is about his one man exhibition at Broadstairs library in 1982. He was born in Ramsgate, worked as a credit controller for Pearce Signs in Westwood, went to Christ Church School and now lives in Beltinge. CULLEN and was wondering if he was the son of Charles John CULLEN and Minnie BOWMAN. On my tree the H stands for HARRISON, which may be after his Aunt, Ellen Elizabeth HARRISON, who was married to George Alfred CULLEN. If it is indeed the same young man (he was born 1899, Ramsgate), would you send me a copy of his picture. You mentioned an article of those men in service dated 1914. Thank you, ~Elaine
