East Kent Advertiser and Echo 13th September 1940 Drummer E JARMAN, of the 2nd Buffs, who as reported last week has been at the front since June although he is only 14 years of age, arrived at his home at Upton Road, St Peter's on Friday. Drummer JARMAN has been discharged on account of his youth but he says he regrets leaving the Army as he liked the life. While in France he had several narrow escapes and on one occasion witnessed the arrival of a German soldier who gave himself up because he 'was sick of it'. Margate Local & Family History
