31st March 1923 Isle of Thanet Gazette   'REMOVING SAND' - John Twyman, Vicarage Place, was summoned for on the 2nd March removing sand from the foreshore in front of the Marine Drive without a permit. Defendant did not appear. P.C. Croucher proved the case, and said when he spoke to the defendant he said he had seen other men taking sand from the same place. A fine of 10s. was imposed.
