    1. Re: [Isle-of-Thanet] Death on the p.s. ORIELE 1891
    2. Hi Chris, Did you realise that your James Wood was married twice & had at least 10 children ? Maybe a tragedy to one of the children caused him to "flip" !! We haven't discovered the maiden name of his first wife, Mary Anne, as we haven't found a marriage, but she appears to have died soon after the 1871 census, aged 37. ( St. Saviour Reg District June Qtr 1871 1d 92 ) At that time they had 6 children. James was at that time a Clerk to a Government Contractor. James married Georgina GODDARD ( daughter of William Goddard & Elizabeth, according to Batch No. C001453 on IGI ) They married at St. Saviour Reg. District 1d 283 Sept Qtr 1874. Maybe Georgina was hired by him to look after the children, & he later married her & had more children. Their daughter Georgina Mildred Wood born on 27th March 1879 was not Baptised until 25th July 1904. She was an Elementary School Teacher. Her parents were shown as James & Georgina, James was NOT shown as Deceased on her Baptism record. Also Frederick Walter was Baptised as an Adult on 25th Nov. 1894. As with Georgina, James is NOT shown as Deceased. Please don't think we are disputing James's death. Georgina Wood, senior, is clearly shown as Widowed on 1901 census, as you no doubt know. The family continued to live at 15, Finchley Rd. where he lived with Mary Anne, in 1871. All the Best with your Research, Mick & Norma Coomber
