    2. MANY THANKS, SUZANNAH. For a family who allegedly liked to be anonymous, they keep making the papers!! The child, Albert MILLER aged 8, son of Mr Joe MILLER a local boatman, was fishing from the slipway on the east side of the pier when he slipped and fell into the sea. The water was six or eight feet deep at the time. Fortunately Mr Heriot ATKIN, of Wildcroft, Queens Avenue Broadstairs, was returning to the harbour in his sailing boat Jessie, and he noticed the boy's plight. When he had come within a few yards of the boy, Mr ATKIN dived overboard, fully clothed and rescued him in the nick of time. The boy had gone under twice. Mr ATKIN was cheered by the watchers as he brought the boy to safety. After he had recovered from the shock of the immersion, the child was taken home.
