The 1911 census shows that they had been married 35 years & didn't have any children. We think that Helen Elizabeth Pearson could have been born Helen Elizabeth GILL Sept Qtr 1837. Lambeth 4 154. Father a Captain in the Royal Navy. On the 1851 Census, Helen E Gill aged 13, is living with her father Thomas, Royal Navy Captain, at The Lodge, Caversham, Oxfordshire The strange thing which I find ( apart from not finding a marriage ) is that in 1871 Joseph Wm Pearson was a grocer, living with his widowed father in Bathwick, Somerset. But, his sister Christianna was shown as a Professor of Music, & his brother Frederick was a Grocer & Violinist!! ha ha But seeing as they had no children, there wouldn't be any descendants anyhoo! In the 1881 census Helen has a DOB c1844 and Joseph 1841. There is a FReeBMD entry for Joseph William PEARSON at Bath in the Dec 1840 quarter that ties in nicely. I think that in 1881 they weren't married because the best marriage for Joseph William PEARSON (on FreeBMD) is registered at Tunbridge in the Mar quarter 1898 with a possible Helen Sophia Piper. However, the only Helen Pipers c1844 are registered in Kent not London/Middlesex but as we know people are not always clear about their place of birth. What do you think? Peter Subject: [Isle-of-Thanet] Helen Pearson 1838-1939 Now wouldn't it be lovely if one of our listers had Helen Pearson born 1838 in their tree. I find her first in Margate with her Professor of Music husband Joseph W Pearson in 1881 at Clifton Terrace and in 1891 and 1901 at 44 Godwin Road, Cliftonville. Joseph died 1922 aged 79. Helen died 30 Jan 1938 at 44 Godwin Road. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ISLE-OF-THANET-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
