Isle of Thanet Gazette 5th Dec 1931 Fisherman's Funeral - The funeral of the late Mr John James GILBERT, one of the survivors of the surf-boat disaster, whose tragic death was reported on another page, was conducted by the Rev E A Cook (Vicar of Holy Trinity) at St John's Cemetery, Margate, yesterday (Thursday) afternoon. The mourners were Mr G GILBERT, Mr A GILBERT and Mr T GILBERT (sons), Mr BULLOCK and Mr TWYMAN (sons in law), Mr W FOSTER (brother in law). The following members of the lifeboat crew acted as pall bearers: Messrs James NEWTON, Ton CAMPANY, Harry PARKER, F EMPTAGE, T KNIGHT, and C EPPS. Wreaths from the following were laid at the graveside:- George Maisie and Norman; Louie and Sid; May and Will, Tom and Albert; Ivy; Mr and Mrs TAYLOR (Deptford); Mr and Mrs TWYMAN and family; Miss E COWELL; "His old Pal Blossom"; Alice and Dave (Charlton); Mr and Mrs INGRAM, Aunt Harriett and Uncle Bill; Kings Head Hotel; Uncle Joe, Uncle Ed and Aunt Em; Niece Rosie; The Lifeboat crew and friends.
