Hi Paul, I have Edward Moodey on my tree, but never followed his ancestors. He married Alice Eastland, my gg-aunt. Your post motivated me to do some more research. 1. I found a marriage on familysearch between John MOODEY and Ann ADAMS, 21 Aug 1831, Birchington. It's also at Barry White's site http://web.archive.org/web/20070813035342/http://barry-white.members.beeb.net/registers/pr_birch_m1.pdf which gives a full transcription. 2. I found 2 birth registrations for Samuel Goodbun MOODY, both in Thanet, 2Q 1849, vol 5, page 502. One in the name Samuel Goodbun MOODY and one Samuel Goodbun GOODBUN. It's unusual if the surname is indexed as GOODBUN but written as GOODBOURN on the certificate. 3. Familysearch has a christening for Samuel Goodbun MOODY, 7 Apr 1850, St John the Baptist, Margate. Only the mother Ann is listed as a parent. 4. There is also a christening on familysearch for Samson Charles MOODY, 7 Apr 1850, St John the Baptist, Margate. I don't know who he is. According to Suzannah Foad, on 8 Apr Samuel GOODBUN married Mary Ann COCKETT at the same church. I'm not sure what all these date coincidences mean. I am interested in John MOODEY's birth date of 1817. Ann ADAMS too was born about 1817 according to the census returns. If the marriage is correct, John and Ann were both only about 14 when they married. Barry White's transcription gives "Banns with consent of themselves and all others" which might mean they were under age. Did you get the birth date from the death certificate? Kind Regards, Graham Petley
