Hi Roger, I found the name because when I put in Frederick Samuel 1849 on Ancestry.com.uk there was a family tree by the name of Nichols that had him with wife Lucy Charlotte Vallack, I looked on Freeband and they were married in July quarter of 1871 in Thanet ref 2a 1148, the census of 1851 and 1861 shows her as Charlotte (not unusual to drop the first name when it's the same as a parent) and the daughter of Robert Vallack and Lucy, Robert is a seaman RN in the 1861 census they have 6 children Robert was born in Devon his wife in Dedham Essex. In 1861 they were living in Great Clacton Essex. In 1851 Robert was a coastguard in Deal. Got to go out now but will have a further look later, I will contact you direct next time as this part of the family has moved out of Thanet list area. Regards Joan.
