Isle of Thanet Gazette 2nd April 1948 Bells Peal for Minster Bride Minster Parish Church bells pealed on Saturday for the first time since the war for the wedding of Miss Joan Kathleen BROCKMAN, daughter of Councillor and Mrs W G BROCKMAN of Hazeldene Farm, Minster and Mr Harry JACKSON, son of Mr and Mrs JACKSON of Mayfield, Litcham Spur, Slough Bucks. The service was choral and the hymns 'Love Divine' and ' Now thank we all our God' and the 23rd psalm were sung. The Vicar (the Rev W Parkes Gascoigne) officiated. The bride was given away by her father and wore a gown of white lace with a long veil and floral headdress. She carried a shower bouquet of red carnations and heather. Her bridesmaids were the Misses Betty SCRUTTON and June COURT (cousins) who were dressed in green net with floral headdresses, Mr S BROCKMAN (brides uncle) was best man. About 80 guest attended a reception at Minster School and the bride and bridegroom afterwards left for their honeymoon at Shanklin, Isle of Wight.
