Does anyone have access to the records of St John, Margate? I am interested in the full details of the marriage of Edward VANDEPEER ( or another similar spelling) to Maria NEEVEs or NEVE on 25 November 1810. I have found the marriage on Familysearch and in Barry White's transcription, but I am interested in whether Edward is a bachelor or a widower. I would also be interested if anyone has a record for a death of Anne VANDIPEER ( or similar spelling ) before 1810. She is, I think a direct ancestor, but online trees which have her included have a death date for her of January 1812, which is after Edward's marriage to Maria Neeve (assuming it is the same Edward Vandipeer). Many thanks Anne
Dear Anne, I was very interested when I saw the subject of your message which included BEAN, but when I read the message I didn't see any reference to BEAN. Would you like to tell us more? Sorry Elizabeth. I think Edward's first marriage was to Anne Bean who may be the Anne Bean baptised 8 December 1771 in St Paul, Canterbury, parents William Bean and Sarah. There is a reference to the marriage in Familysearch Canterbury marriage licenses Edw Vandepeer of Herne yeo bach (24) & Ann Bean of the s sp (23). 19 Aug 1802. Book: Volume 34 Collection: Kent, Surrey, London: - Canterbury Marriage Licences, 1781-1809 The marriage seems to have taken place in Herne on 21 August 1802. Anne was buried I think in Herne on 26 January 1812. Dear Anne, Thanks for this - I will keep it in mind. MY BEAN's are most recently from Deal, but in the 1780's they were in Eastry. I know Suzannah has BEAN from Whitstable and I'm in contact with another person with BEAN in Thanet. I have a feeling that the Deal and Thanet lot are connected in some way, but haven't figured it out yet. (I'm also convinced we all must be related to Suzannah - wishful thinking on my part :-)) Best wishes Elizabeth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anne Peat" <anne.peat@bigwindows.demon.co.uk> To: isle-of-thanet@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, January 15, 2011 9:53:20 AM Subject: Re: [Isle-of-Thanet] VANDEPEER, BEAN, NEEVE Sorry Elizabeth. Bishops Transcripts do not hold whether they were widows or not either. Hardly do so early in Thanet I have found. Spelt Vandipeer. Cannot see a St John's Burial for Anne or any other Vandipeer Margate Local & Family History --- On Sat, 15/1/11, Anne Peat <anne.peat@bigwindows.demon.co.uk> wrote: > From: Anne Peat <anne.peat@bigwindows.demon.co.uk> > Subject: [Isle-of-Thanet] VANDEPEER, BEAN, NEEVE > To: isle-of-thanet@rootsweb.com > Date: Saturday, 15 January, 2011, 13:00 > > Does anyone have access to the records of St John, > Margate? > > I am interested in the full details of the marriage of > Edward VANDEPEER ( or another similar spelling) to Maria > NEEVEs or NEVE on 25 November 1810. I can see no Burial for Anne in Margate. Edwards Marriage does not record whether he is a ba or wdr, just otp, but can give you the witnesses James Dixon and Richard Mummery, but both appear as witnesses to several weddings. And its maria Neeves. Can't help more than that. Sorry all the best Lis
Thanks Lis, I've just found another marriage for Edward on Familysearch to a Mary Clun(n) in November 1812in Herne , which fits much better with the death/burial for Anne in Herne on 26 Jan 1812. So I think the marriage to Maria in Margate is actually a red herring. A baptism for Ann Clunn again in Herne fits better with her age on the 1841 & 1851 censuses when she is with Edward. Many thanks for looking though.
