    1. [Isle-of-Thanet] Young
    2. Joan Leary
    3. Hi Roger, I found the name because when I put in Frederick Samuel 1849 on Ancestry.com.uk there was a family tree by the name of Nichols that had him with wife Lucy Charlotte Vallack, I looked on Freeband and they were married in July quarter of 1871 in Thanet ref 2a 1148, the census of 1851 and 1861 shows her as Charlotte (not unusual to drop the first name when it's the same as a parent) and the daughter of Robert Vallack and Lucy, Robert is a seaman RN in the 1861 census they have 6 children Robert was born in Devon his wife in Dedham Essex. In 1861 they were living in Great Clacton Essex. In 1851 Robert was a coastguard in Deal. Got to go out now but will have a further look later, I will contact you direct next time as this part of the family has moved out of Thanet list area. Regards Joan.

I should have given Frederick Samuel YOUNG's birth date as 1849. The Frederick Young burial that you kindly located was of his father. I have not found my elusive Frederick Samuel Young in any 1891 census in England, although his wife was still in Margate in that census, enumerated as married and not widowed. So I assumed that he might have died before the census and the information on his wife therefore faulty. Alternatively, he might have been missed by the census being away from home. Certainly by the 1901 census his wife was a widow but living in Brighton (her age, birthplace and details of still resident children are all correct). So as another possibility I have to conclude that they must have moved away from Thanet and that he died away from Thanet, but where I don't know. I assume that there were not other later Frederick YOUNGs buried in St John's other than the one you both found? Many thanks again. 3. Thank you Joan and Robin for your help.
