How did you come to the conclusion Edward Wales was Lord of The Manor? Would love to know. Are you sure he wasn't living at Lord of the Manor near Manston. Look forward to hearing from you. May 1906 aged 90 Suzannah, Is this at St John's Church in Margate? This Henry Sackett was a substantial farmer in Thanet, having more than 100 acres at Sackett's Farm, Northdown, and employing 8 men. He was the son of another Henry and Mary (Brasier) Sackett. Regards, Chris Sackett
Sandra, I can "keep an eye out" but cannot locate the graves without a plot number. The Cemetery opened in 1856 with its first burial in November. You can Imagine the size of Margate main Cemetery and it caters for the whole of Thanet. The Cemetery is very overgrown but the Friends of Margate Cemetery Trust, including myself as tidying up as much as we can. The Environmental Agency want to leave some of the Ivy on the Headstone for animals, Grey and Albino Squirrels, Green Woodpeckers, butterflies and birds etc in the Cemetery but of course we wish to see what interesting stones there are. Sycamore trees as being cut down and burnt at present as they are growing through hundreds of Graves. I saw as many as 12 small Sycamores growing through one individual grave! To see a plan of the Cemetery and its vastness http://www.thanet.gov.uk/cgi-bin/buildpage.pl?mysql=587 Alternatively, you can phone or write to Margate Cemetery Office asking for a plot number. Maybe try a letter/email the Isle of Thanet Gazette for folk to come forward and also St James Church would welcome a visit.
