The last Phillpott I have born in Margate was John Phillpott, born 1802. He was the one who went to Bristol and married Mary Harding. His parents, I think, were John Phillpott and Mary Stokes. I'm spelling it with 2 Ls and 2 Ts, but it is quite likely that they spelled it differently. Don't think I can help you at the moment Shirley. The earliest Phillpott is a George born in about 1580. He could possibly be a brother of your Edward, but I've no proof at all. Tricia

If you search on the place Ramsgate, it comes up with about 550 people. Hmm, not the population of Ramsgate.
