Couldn't find a baptism for Sarah Bolden, can check for George next time I am there, was so busy at Margate Library! Did find a birth for Thomas Bolden PALMER son of George and Sarah born 30th April Baptised 22nd May 1803 Two others Ann PALMER, dau of George and Sarah, Born June 4th Baptised 30th June 1805 William Palmer, son of William and Elizabeth, born 17th July Baptised 11th August 1805. Hi all, I have George Palmer born 1763 Margate St. Johns marrying Sarah Bolden also born Margate St. Johns. Some of George & Sarah's children bore middle names that were obviously surnames, perhaps of forebears. Can anyone tell me where the connections were to CROFTS and THOMPSON? Furthermore, can anyone tell me any of George Palmer and Sarah Bolden's forebears. Dene Gill

My IMPETTs are living in Minster in 1841 ... the reference is RG9/533 folio 11 pg 16. The writing is faint and I can't make out the name ... it looks like Rattle or Tattle. Lots of families seem to live there. I'm sure it's quite easily read - once it's pointed out to me! Thanks and regards, Lesley Constance Bay, Ontario

I have the HARRISON surname in my tree at Chislet north of Canterbury. Wonder if that is any good, as Thanet folk did sometimes go there, for work in the Blean Woods for example. Thomas KILLICK (my maiden surname) 1754-95, married Sarah HARRISON at Chislet in 1785. One of their sons, another Thomas KILLICK left the area; but had a son named Denwood Harrison KILLICK born 1828 who went out to Australia in 1852. We don't know where the Denwood came from, doesn't seem to be a close relative's name. Could there be a link? Might be worth a look at Chislet. (My KILLICKS are from Surrey and not Thanet by the way; it's my husband who is Thanetian). Madie

plating around, I note that births can be accessed using/substituting : "b" for "m" - preceded by the surname initial, but does not seem to work for Deaths - substituting "d" for "m" Any ideas, anyone ?? Since you were accessing a text file, they do not support links to other pages. Only HTML files allow that. But you should have been able to use the "Back" button on your browser to go back to the last page you were on before that. Lou
Hi, Just found the easy way Replace the s in the sm.txt with the letter of the alphabet you want. Just used http://www.rootsweb.com/~engken/am.txt and all the a marriages are shown. Hi, Suggest go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~engken/ and ask Peggy the Coordinator if she can assist. You have opened a text file which is obviously opened by one of the sites on the above URL, look at Deal Freeman, but I can't find anything to match. Hi List Missed some of this thread, I have tried it ,but the results do not cover very far timewise, mainly all early 1700,s /1800,s . What are we actually seeing by doing this ,and what part of rootsweb are we going to. When I tried it ,I could,nt get in , from Ie or google, so I emailed myself the address , and it worked from the link on message. gary hodge
Thanks Suzannah and Malcolm. I see now that I didn't look at the original document for 1851. So I am definitely out of Thanet with this line now. Thanks for the additional info about where the records are kept. Louise Suzannah Foad wrote: >Louise, > >Totally agree with Malcolm. Louise, Totally agree with Malcolm. Wickhambreaux is not in Thanet, The 1851 Census, states Thomas Kennett was born Wickham as does the 1861 West Wickham Records are kept at Bromley while East Wickham are kept at Bexley. Good luck Suzannah Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me to pin something down. I have been tracking a bit further back through my Kennetts over the weekend (bad cold, so I sat in front of the fire with the laptop) I got as far as Thomas born 1776. He seems to have married Mary Fox in Monkton in 1801 and he lives in Monkton on the 1841 and 51 censuses, but they do not contain a place of birth. On the 1861 census he is still in Monkton, but his place of birth I think looks like Wickham. I went over and over it. It is definitely in Kent. I looked at the road map and see that there is East and West Wickham but also in Thanet, Wickhambreaux. Is there any other place in Thanet, maybe somewhere small which is not on the road map which it may mean? Or could it be Wickhambreaux. I am wondering why it just says Wickham and does not distinguish between East and West. Any help or opinions would be much appreciated. Louise

True, Preston is near Wickhambreaux but I would expect 'near' to be followed by the name of a larger place - not Wickhambreaux but maybe Wingham. By the way, of the places mentiond so far in this thread, only Monkton is in Thanet. = Malcolm.
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me to pin something down. Louise

Hi Andy, Thanks for your trouble. I'll wait awhile to see if I get any other replies, if not I'll contact Peggy. Laurie Bridger
