I am writing up my genealogical researches and as background I am pointing out the problems with sources (nominal lists) due to certain ports and towns in Thanet being limbs of the Cinque Ports of either Dover or Sandwich. Hence for example some of the Hearth Tax returns for Kent cover only the non-Cinque Port areas of jurisdiction in Thanet. To be totally correct in my description I want to indicate in which parish the limb Gore(s) End lay. I thought it was in Birchington, but a recent map I saw put it much closer to St Nicholas-at-Wade.
