William Riley Isbell, son of Robert Carrol Isbell Jr. and great-grandson of Zachariah Isbell & Margaret (Brown) was killed by a tornado in April 1908 in Lamar County, Texas. Some researchers show his death as April 25, but from this newspaper dateline of the 24th, it appears he died April 23, 1908. I don't find his tombstone at findagrave.com so don't know what it might say. Baltimore Sun, April 25, 1908, Section 1, p. 2: PARIS, Texas. April 24. About 6 P.M. yesterday a tornado destroyed the eastern portion of Deport, a town 20 miles southeast of Paris, killing W.R. Isbell, a druggist., an injuring several others. The Isbell family was at supper when the storm came and Mrs. Isbell and the children ran to the stormhouse and were unhurt. Mr. Isbell remained in the house and was crushed to death when it fell. Practically all the residences on the east side of the town were destroyed, at least 25 or 30 being scattered over the country in fragments. _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live™: Life without walls. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_allup_1a_explore_032009
