Unless you are sure that your Emmet Isbell was born in Tennessee, here is another possibility: 1900 Census, Saline Co. Missouri, page 303B, in what looks like Miami Township: Isabell, William Head W M, b Dec 1869, age 30. Married 11 years. Born Illinois, father born Kentucky, mother born Missouri Mary, Wife, W F b Aug 1870, age 29. Married 11 years, 5 children ,4 living. Born Missouri, father born Germany, mother born Germany. Paul, Son, W M, b Oct 1888, age 11. Single. Born Missouri. Samuel, Son, W M, b May? 1894, age 6,. Single. Born Missouri. Clara, Daughter, W F , b March 1896, age 4. Single. Born Missouri. Emmett, Son, W M, b Nov 1898, age 1. Single. Born Missouri. In 1910, the same family appears in Wyandotte Co., Kansas, with the addition of two more children: Dave, age 7, and Helen, age 6, both born in Missouri. They are there in 1920, too, with Clara, Emmet, David and Helen still at home. I hope this helps! Margaret Lindsey Smith, who Isbell ancestors for sure lived in Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, but are believed to have been descended from Thomas Dillard Isbell and Ann Poindexter Kerr and ultimately from Henry Isbell and ? Pendleton, possibly of Virginia.
