    3. Richard L. Isbell, graphic artist and typographer, died December 3rd in or near Detroit, Michigan, at age 85. The December 10th issue of the Detroit News carried an informative article on this distant cousin that tells us a lot about him. http://detnews.com/article/20091210/OBITUARIES/912100413/Graphic-designer-thrived-on-the-ABCs-of-art Until reading this, about all I knew was his name and that he had designed the ITC Isbell font. Someone had given me a neat little booklet on ITC Isbell a few years ago which gave very little personal information about the man himself but had always piqued my curiosity. Chances are that there probably are quite a few Isbells driving around in cars with this man's design logos on them, too.
