    1. [ISBELL] Dorothy Carlisle Isbell book

    3. Dorothy Carlisle Isbell, widow of Jason Benjamin Isbell III, has written a memoir entitled REFLECTIONS. See: http://www.hillsdale.net/stories/042307/news_20070423020.shtml http://www.keener13.com/nellie_knorr_rememembered.asp Jason's descent: (according to Sharon Oxley) 1. Benjamin Isbell b. c1731 + Lettice Hickman 2. Jason Livingston Isbell Sr. b c1754 + Elizabeth Davidson 3. Jason Livingston Isbell Jr. b 1786 + Elizabeth Parker 4. Elliott Temple Isbell b. 1813 + Dorcas B. Phoebe Steeley 5. Jason Benjamin Isbell b. 1840 + Laura Clarinda Safford 6. Jason Benjamin Isbell Jr. b. 1879 + Lucy Jane 7. Jason Benjamin Isbell III b. 1917 + Dorothy Carlisle There are several other versions of Elliot(t) Temple Isbell's descent, but I just went with Shane's chart because this is her line. Another version shows Elliot(t) Temple as the son of Temple Elliott Isbell and Anna Kimbrough, and grandson of Jason Livingston Isbell Sr. Dorothy's book is supposed to give some of the Isbell family history, so I wonder which version her family has. Benjamin Isbell and his brother Jason received land purchased for and held in trust by William and Rosamund Isbell until they came of age. I believe William and Rosamund were their aunt and uncle rather than parents as some researchers in recent years have come to think. I believe Benjain and Jason were the younger two sons of Henry Isbell and Miss Cox, just as most all of the earlier Isbell researchers had deduced from circumstantial evidence, and that the actions of William and Rosamund were the typical actions of guardianship for two nephews. _________________________________________________________________ Don’t quit your job – Take Classes Online and Earn your Degree in 1 year.
