Tommy Isbell sent me this: Guntersville (Alabama) Democrat, Jan. 2, 1902: “There’s joy in the home of Elijah M. Isbell of Martling. Rev. John B. Isbell, of Thompson, Texas, who left Alabama fifty years ago, is back to see his brothers Elijah and Charles. The old gentleman is 72 years of age and is a Missionary Baptist preacher. He fought in the Confdederate Army and his brother Elijah in the Federal Army. They had not met in half a century.”
