It is my sad duty to say that longtime Isbell genealogist Sarah Coon passed away last night. Her son Anthony Dalton emailed me today that she died unexpectedly but peacefully and asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the ALS Society would be the best way to remember her. Dear Ray, Thank you for writing. What a wonderful person Sarah is, and what a friend we have had in her! Her friendship is a great privilege. Sarah did wonderful research work. I treasure the correspondence which I had with her, and the times to spend with her in discussion. She had more knowledge of the Isbell family than anyone. The help which I received from her will be a constant guide to me in my work on writing about the Isbells. I am so sorry to hear about Sarah Coon's passing! My deepest sympathy to all her loved ones as well as to those of us who benefited so much from her wisdom. She will be missed. They say the passing of someone like Sarah is likened to the burning of a huge Library. Ray, it is good to hear from you! You have really been a great help to me in putting my lines together! As you can see below, I still need help. I am heartbroken. Although I never met her, she was a wonderful genealogy friend, helping me sort through my Isbells. What a treasure trove of knowledge she had, and was always generous about sharing. Her family is in my prayers.
