Oops--my last sentence in the post should have said "is worth noting" -- hope it is worth something to someone! _____ From: isbell-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:isbell-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of isbell-request@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, February 21, 2011 3:00 AM To: isbell@rootsweb.com Subject: ISBELL Digest, Vol 6, Issue 1 Today's Topics: 1. Lewis Isbell mentioned in court records 1780s from Tillotson Parish in Buckingham Co VA (Sandra Kidd) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2011 17:11:08 -0500 From: "Sandra Kidd" <skkidd@bellsouth.net> Subject: [ISBELL] Lewis Isbell mentioned in court records 1780s from Tillotson Parish in Buckingham Co VA To: <ISBELL-L@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <201102202211.p1KMBLES022330@mail.rootsweb.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" References to Lewis Isbell found in Prince Edward District Court records, Vol 1, 1784-1792 (microfilm): The Prince Edward District Court covered a multi-county area that included Buckingham County. Lewis Isbell listed as serving on jury for two cases from the 1780s, which places him in Tillotson Parish, Buckingham Co, during this time frame: the first is 6 July 1783, Charles Burruss of Amherst Co, plaintiff, vs Charles Patterson and John Christian of Buckingham Co, defendants suit over debt, place named as Tillotson Parish, Buckingham Co the second is 6 Jan 1786, Hart, plaintiff, v Beadles and Taylor, defendants, Buckingham Co, parish not named--also appears to be suit over debt Nothing else in the record about Lewis Isbell, but I pass this along because Buckingham Co is a burned record county and any mentions showing up in other records is worth nothing. Sandra Kidd descendant of Christopher Isbell of Surry Co, NC, through son Littleton Isbell (still looking for Christopher's father) ------------------------------ To contact the ISBELL list administrator, send an email to ISBELL-admin@rootsweb.com. 3. Perhaps this was John Lewis Isbell who was born in 1751 in Goochland Co., VA., son of William Isbell and Anne Dillard, and died 1796 Cumberland VA., married Ann Hannah Anderson on 17 November 1775 in either St. James Northam Parish, Goochland Co., VA, or Hanover Co., VA. I've read that he is shown as Lewis on most records. > From: skkidd@bellsouth.net > To: isbell@rootsweb.com > Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2011 10:15:21 -0500 > Subject: Re: [ISBELL] last post re Lewis Isbell > > Oops--my last sentence in the post should have said "is worth noting" -- > hope it is worth something to someone! > > _____ > > From: isbell-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:isbell-bounces@rootsweb.com] On > Behalf Of isbell-request@rootsweb.com > Sent: Monday, February 21, 2011 3:00 AM > To: isbell@rootsweb.com > Subject: ISBELL Digest, Vol 6, Issue 1 > > > > > > Today's Topics: > > 1.
