Hi everybody, I've been doing a little library research and hope one of you will recognize this family. My grandmother's name was Mollie Evelyn Irvin. I finally found her as a child in GA with her parents. The following is what I found. 1880 census for Jackson County Georgia, taken on June 2, 1880 in Randolphs District Number 248. There are two page numbers. One on the upper right hand side of the census says page 553 and the other series of numbers is on the upper left hand corner shown as page 5, supervisor's dist. # 2, Enumeration district # 56. Families visitation number begins at 38 Irving, John D. white male age 32 head of household a farmer born in Georgia and both his parents were born in Georgia Irving, Rebecca J. white female age 30 wife of John D. born in GA and both her parents were born in Georgia. Irving, Joseph A. white male age 8 son of John D. born in GA and parents in GA Delihia E. white frmale age 7 daughter of John D. she and parents born in GA James L. white male age 5 son of John D. he and parents born in GA Mollie E white female age 3 daughter of John D. she and parents born in GA Christopher C. white male age 3 months son of John D. born as per above Head, Henry black male age 35, laborer he and his parents born in GA Family visitation number 39 Irving, Polly white female age 55 head of household she and both parents born in GA James J. age 22 son of Polly a farmer, he and both parents born in GA Cassandra age 22 daughter of Polly, she and both parents born in GA Irving, Elly J. white female age 18, servant to Polly, she and both parents born in GA Family visitation number 40 Irving, Lesley white male age 25 head of household, farmer he and both parents in GA Julia F white female age 18 wife of Lesley, she and both parents born in GA Joseph L. white male age 9 months, son of Lesley, he and parents from GA Family visitation number 41 Irving, James white male age 32 head of household, farmer he and parents born in GA Sarah E. white female age 29 wife of James, she and her parents born in GA John N. white male age 3 son of James, he and both parents born in GA Elizabeth white female age 1 daughter of James she and parents born in GA I searched the 1850, 1860, and 1870 GA census and didn't find any of them. I suspect another name spelling. I'll have to go back and screen for every Irvin spelling variation I can find. Maybe then I'll turn something up. In the mean time, I sure hope one of you guys will recognize this family. I'll post it on our new web site too.
