Hi List, I certainly hope this list isn't just for American research! My ancestors were Allan Irvine and Mary Love married May 1830 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire. I'm pretty sure Allan Irvine is one of the Allans from St. Monans (St. Monance) Fife. There were two born there from the same family. Allan Sr. b. 1786 to David Irvine and Margaret Steel, and Allan Jr. b. 1810 to David Irvine and Janet Robertson. Allan died before the 1851 census of New Monkland so I do not have definite proof but David Irvine and Janet Robertson were married in Old Monkland and had Allan in St. Monans. From St. Monans, the family appear to have come from Kilconquhar, Fife where David Irvine and Margaret Steel were married on June 14, 1771. This was a tough one, it was listed under David URINE! It took me ages to find. I believe David Irvine's parents were probably David Irvine and Helen Allan (hence, Allan in the name). Does anyone know anything about the Fife Irvines? Cheers, Elizabeth
