Hello Alan You are not really the only researcher of Irwin on the list...most of us here in the USA have Irwin, Irvin, Irvine, Erwin, Ervin and even Arvin and Urvin etc. spellings in the same families...it is just how the name was spelled or mispelled by whoever was recording , taking or keeping records for various court, census , property records at any given time or how the family passed the spelling down. We consider ourselves all one and therefore check out all info with those spellings. As for mine ,so far I have found most of these spellings in my lines..but mainly ask for Irvine as that this the way it was supposed to be for our family. We sort of understand that when we see spellings for any of these variations that it is possible that these are related to us in some way. So you are not the only one with Irwin ...just know that when I see that spelling I always check as it could be one of mine and the same goes for most of us.
