Hello, I've not posted to this list before because I wasn't sure it was the appropriate list - IRWIN is the name in my line but it is often written in old lists, censuses, etc. as IRVINE or IRVIN. I'm hoping that perhaps someone can help me clear up some confusion in what I'm researching and have been privately discussing with other people not on the list. My line begins, as far as I can tell, with William IRWIN (IRL>PA) settling in Cumberland Co., PA William and unknown wife had three sons: Robert, James, and John John(b. mid 1700's) (served in Rev. War at Trenton) married an Elizabeth CUNNINGHAM said to be of Welsh descent in PA, we think. There are some who have also found John IRWIN married to Jean/Jane Campbell VA or NC. John migrated south to Sullivan Co., TN/VA and at least on son was born there in 1788. By 1799 he was in Cumberland/Clinton Co., KY. John's children were: Elizabeth (b. 1785 d. 1851 TN) m. George Wood William d. 1849) m. Elizabeth Forester Francis (frank) John, Jr. (b. 1788 TN d. 1884 KY)m. Jemima Stockton Margaret (Peggy) m. Benjamin McDowell Nancy m. Leven Bristow Looking for someone who can help me verify or deny the IRWIN/CAMPBELL marriage or who can tell me any other info about this family - John Sr or his brothers, or their father, or Elizabeth Cunningham. Thank you! Carla Smith
