Hi Folks, I'm combining several thoughts in one message. First I've been looking at several different ways to help our family mail lists get off to a good start. The list began on September 29, and as of today we already have 28 members on our regular mail list and 15 on our digest. That's a total of 43 individuals. Since you folks are the pioneers I thought I'd give you the opportunity to say what we do with our lists. Is there anyone who has any ideas? I'm open to suggestions and the majority rules. The only exception to that is the issue of flames. A flame is a derogatory remark about another person across a public mail list. I've always through that it was OK to disagree, but it isn't necessary to get rough. For the sake of those who don't enjoy that type of thing, I can't allow any of that. I would ask you to tell me about any problems you have with someone and let me handle it. Or conduct your disagreements in private. __________ I'm also interested in the Irvin surname. My grandmother was Mollie Evelyn Irvin. She was born July 15, 1876 Near Hoschton, Jackson Co., GA. The 1900 census shows that both of her parents were born in GA also. I know that her mother was Rebecca J. _____?_____ Irvin. I've found her in the 1900 census showing that she was a farmer and a widow. Her grave is located at Cahill Methodists Church Cemetery in Johnson Co., TX and gives the following information. Rebecca J. Irvin b 17 Oct 1849 d 4 Feb 1929. I have two differing ideas as to who Mollie's parent were. One shows her parents as John R A Irvine who married Rebecca J. McMullen in Brooks Co., GA. The other source shows her parents as John Daniel Irving who married Rebecca Jane Haynes. To date I have found no concrete evidence on either of these. I'm still searching and hope that as you all research your own Irvin relatives you'll keep them in mind and let me know if you find anything on them. Don't forget, let me what you'd like see happen with our list. If you don't voice your opinion I can't take your thoughts into account. You can post those ideas to the list or send them to me privately. All will be heard. Respectfully, donna brand higgins dbrand@hpnc.com
