    2. ED ERWIN
    3. In looking over this following activity, I see what is possibily the family of Ervins that I ahve been looking for since I began my research several years ago. I am very interested in the family group posted by Julia Ervin Christianson. Julia, let me give you some brief information and I would appreciate hearing from you as you may have the information or leads I need to progress further: My gggrandfather was James Ervin/Irvin and was married twice with children of both marriages. I do not have his birth date but he apparently died as an older man in homeguard duty during the Civil War. His sons of his first marriage were James(Jr?), John, and Robert(given name was James Robert Ervin but went by Robert) Robert was my ggrandfather and b. 1-15-1851-1853 in McDowell Co NC. His older brother John was born in SC about 1834(Haywood Co Census 1870). Roberts mother died at or near his birth and since he was an orphan, his older brother John, a Civil War Vet brought him to Haywood County NC in 1867 to settle. John went on to Tenn in 1883 and is unknown since. My grandfather began spoelling the name as Erwin about 1900 but the family I believe was known as Ervin or Irvin in the mid 1800s and Irvine prior to that. Because my ggrandfather was an orphan and never knew much about his father, we have few clues to go on thus far. I have some more information and would like to share with you--Ed Erwin, Arden, NC -----Original Message----- From: Lyn <lyne@theriver.com> To: IRVIN-L@rootsweb.com <IRVIN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, November 16, 1998 12:57 PM Subject: Re: [IRVIN-L] Update of activity >Hi Julia & All > >These are "my" Irvins.
