I don't know if anyone got back to you on the book "The Irvines and Their Kin" but I just turned up a copy by going to http://www.abebooks.com/ and searching on "Irvines and Their Kin". It's $125 so perhaps you're not going to jump on it but I did want to mention to everyone that I've had great success with the used book cooperatives like ABE and Interloc, which has recently become ALibris ( http://www2.alibris.com/cgi-bin/texis/bookstore ). I haven't used BiblioFind ( http://www.bibliofind.com ) as much but it may be good too.
