Hi Folks, This is just a progress report on our mail list. We began the list on Sept. 29, 1998. We now have a membership of 33. Not bad for a new mail list. Some of you posted your search interest within a few days of our inception. Since so many new folks have joined us since then you might want to post it again. Who knows, you just might find that missing link. Happy Hunting donna
I am looking for any information on Jamina ERVIN / ERWIN / IRWIN / IRVIN. She died in 1842 in Denton, Denton, Texas. In about 1837 she married Newman MCGEE somewhere in Arkansas, we believe. We know nothing more and with knowing she died prior census records showing place of birth, are really running out of places to look. Her husband was born in Missouri, near what is today St. Lewis, 12 June 1787/88. Thank You, Monica
Hi everybody, I've just gotten the word that RootsWeb will be down sometime this week for a few hours. So don't panic when it doesn't work right. They'll be back on line in no time and working faster and harder than they do now. Regards donna
George Irving was a wood forester from Dumfrieshire, Scotland, born circa 1798.He married Jane McDonald in Closeburn Village on May 27, 1832. Jane's parents were Ronald McDonald(for real) and Jane Lennox. George and Jane arrived in New York aboard the ship Hector on July 29, 1834. This family settled near Settle's Bridge in Rockingham County N.C.I would like any information anyone out there might have on either the ancestors or descendants of this family. Don Thomas Simmons
Good Morning: I would like to find any information on Joseph Irvine b 1824 in Northern Ireland. He emmigrated St John New Brunswick. In May of 1847 he married Faithful Molloy and they produced 12 children. The children were spread all over the United States and Canada, some ended up in the Lethbridge area of Alberta. I would like to get in contact with any decendants of Joseph and Faithful. Bob Welch Spokane, Washington USA

Hi all, I was doing some library research today and of course since I believe that my great grandfather Irvin died in Alabama I was in that section. I didn't find my great grandfather but I did find the following information. I haven't been able to connect it to my Irvin line but may one of you can. Alabama Court Documents Thomas Irvin in Mobile County in Wills Vol. 2 page 66 dated 1837-1857 Mary Irvin in Henry County in Orphan Court Records Vol. M page 140 dated 1861-1862 William Irvin in Henry County in Orp. Court Rec. Vol. F page 123 & 251 dat 1848-1853 Hope someone can use the information. In case some of you have questions I wouldn't be able to answer them. Unfortunately this is the only information I found in a book on Alabama Court Documents. It was very much like a log of documents and where they could be found. Guess you'd have to write to the County Clerk's office for copies. If you want those addresses let me know, I can get that info for you. Good luck donna
I am searching for any information about my great grandmother and her ancestors: Irving, Agnes b. 1859, Scotland; Father: Archibald; Mother: Mary(?), both born Scotland. The family left Scotland (date unknown) and settled in Quebec, Canada. Ditton and Scotstown are known locations. Agnes married John MacDonald on Oct. 5, 1874 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. They had six children that I know about: Alexander, Mary Ann, John Archibald, Jessie and William James. Not much to go on, I know, but would appreciate any help. Judi
Hi all, In my research I've found a very useful tool for our genealogy work. It is a place for locating town, state, and county information. So if you know the town and state but not the county this will help. Simply enter the town and state and it will tell you which county its in. The URL is <http://www.mit.edu:8001/geo> Have fun and happy hunting donna
For anyone else working on the TN Irvin families - I have indexes for the TN censuses for all of the Irvin families from 1840 to 1870. I have them in Excel 97 spreadsheets, but can save them off as plain text files for anyone who is interested. Alica in Crockett, CA researching in TN: IRVIN, CASTLEMAN, TROUT, ANDERSON, HARGIS, CROW

Hello, I am following the lead of others in introducing myself as this is a new list and introducing myself. My name is Nancy Irving, I live in New Hampshire and my Irving family is from Massachusetts (near Boston) via St. John, New Brunswick and back to either Scotland or Ireland or both. My father was John Fremont Irving of Sommerville, MA His father was Linus Dudley Irving b.1873 St John NB d. 1948 Brooklyn NY His fahter was William J. Irving (or IRVINE) b. abt 1846 m. Anna Seeley in Portland, St John Co, NB Aug 1867. Please let me know if any of you may be working on the same line or have any info. I took a trip to ST John this past Spring and found the Seeley family back to their ancestors in 16th century England but had no luck on the IRVINGS other than the Irving family of Irving Oil but I don't believe it to be the same family. I look forward to conversing with you and hopefully finding some cousins. Nancy Irving

My name is Donna Fletcher. My mother was an Irvin and I thought I would share a little with you. The furthest back I can go in our line is Benjamin O. Irvin. All we know about him is that he was married to Mary Loper. Their son was John Quincy Irvin (b. 11/16/1849 in Gallia Co, Ohio and d.1/14/1920 in Pike Co, Ohio) He married Louisa Jane Bowman (b. 8/12/50 and d. 6/2/1938 in Pike Co, Ohio). They had 13 children. I have their names and birthdates if you are interested. One of their sons was my great-grandfather, John Oral Irvin (b. 2/5/1882 in Pike Co. Ohio and died 12/4/1945 in Pike Co, Ohio). He married Bertha Catherine Allen (b. 6/17/1886 in Pike Co. and d. 8/23/1953 in Columbus, Ohio). They had 4 children whose names and birthdates I have if you are interested. One of their sons was Walter Woodrow Irvin my grandfather. He was born 10/3/1915 and died 3/23/1964 in Delaware, Ohio. He married Mary Katharine Steele (b. 2/5/1919 in Ewington, Ohio and died 11/28/1991 in Columbus, Ohio). They were married Dec. 26, 1936 in Greenup, Kentucky. They had two daughters, one was my mother Carolyn Jane Irvin. (b. 1/8/1942). I hope to find someone I am related to out there. Thanks. Donna Fletcher Lynn4@erols.com
All Thought I would follow Julia's lead and introduce myself and my line. I'm Richard Allen. My mother was Marjorie Irvin. Our line stems from Benjamin Irvin [1772-1848]. His wife was Sarah last name Lacy, Long or Lang. Old Ben has resisted all attempts to trace him back to his place of birth. We first find him in Jasper County Ga. He and his wife migrated to Pike County Ga. in the 1820's. Our only other early record of him is in 1807. While living in the 3rd district of Baldwin County, now Putnam County, Ga., he won land in a lottery and paid taxes on land in Jackson County, Ga. Ben was the fountainhead of a large Irvin Family that extended thoughout middle Georgia. From him I do have detailed records on the many branches. His descendants moved to Alabama, Louisianna, Florida and Texas. I would be glad to help anyone with this line of Irvins. I continue my research into old Ben's orgins and welcome anyone who could be of assistance. Richard Allen
